Halloween 2009

Wednesday, November 4th, 2009

For the last month or so, Dash has gone back and forth between two potential costumes; a fire fighter and a garbage man. This boy lives to serve the public, what can I say?

When it came down to the money, he had to go with his current toddler crush. I get it. They smell way better than garbage men.

And they’re much cuter too. This is one pair of everyday rubber boots, black pants, suspenders (!), red shirt, thrifted red raincoat with strategically placed stripes of electrical tape, and one twelve-year-old, taped together fire fighter’s hat.

And though we spend a lot of the day putting out fires all over the house, the costume lasted about four minutes and hasn’t been spoken of since.

Oh and if you were wondering, Zella decided to be a 10-month old adorable baby for Halloween. No costume necessary.
Trick or treat!

Another Year

Well what a lovely couple/few days that was! Celebrated my thirty-third birthday (ahem), visited with friends from out of town, and found a place to live for at least the winter. Not too shabby for a three-day weekend.

So was he.

And this movie star.

But this photo pretty well sums up what’s been happening around here.
best cake ever
This is the best birthday cake I’ve ever had. And while it doesn’t look quite so good (and strangely, quite a bit smaller) in this photo, it is fantastic. And trust me, you want a slice.

And now, back to reality, and a very quick week. Lots to do, lots to pack for a week in Atlanta in just a few days. Sigh. Did you all have a nice weekend?

Bestest Moments of Summer :: 3

Tuesday, July 29th, 2008

Ok, well I planned this post for sometime early last week but we were blessed (?) with rain rain rain all week long and it literally put a damper on plans, blog and otherwise. Yuck. My garden is excessively happy though, making for some unusually large zucchinis. Pictures to come.

But for now, I’ll let the weather dictate this next bestest moment, which we’ll call, “dealing with what mother nature offers up.”

In between the rain showers, Dash learned the joys of keeping cool using just a garden hose and an old wash tub.

And on the rainy days, we find things to do indoors. Like trying on daddy’s mandolin for the first time and making surprisingly pretty music with it.

Looks like we have a beautiful sunny day ahead of us. Who knows what summer moment will come out of this one?

Introducing

Friday, June 13th, 2008

The newest member of the Sattin family. Just a little bitty thing still but I can’t possibly hide it anymore.

Can’t really hide that basket of dirty laundry in the background either, can I?

So this is what’s kept me away. This and the morning sickness (which, by the way, sucks if you didn’t know already), and the fact that Dash still wants to be held all day in spite of me having to run to the bathroom every so often.

We’re really excited to be welcoming a new baby into our family and I’m looking forward to the months leading up to the big day. I love being pregnant (minus the sick) so I plan to make the most of these few months. Not just going through all of Dash’s clothes and other goods that can be reused, but also just enjoying it. Enjoying the belly. Enjoying the way it seems to make everyone smile around me. I love that!

And also enjoying being a family of three for as long as that lasts. I think Dash will be a splendid big brother, though it does make me a little sad that he won’t remember this time when we were just three.

And a special note to the Dad before his second Father’s Day… you’re an amazing father with so much love for our little Dash. We are both so lucky to have you.

Now get ready to do it again! Next year there will be two!

Happy Father’s Day to all.
