Sun, Rain, Sun, Rain Very Hard, Repeat

August 4th, 2008

That is pretty much the story of the last several days around here. It’s making planning a day out rather difficult.

Pants or shorts? Sandals or boots? Wash hair or why even bother?

Since it’s naptime and dinner is a salad and therefore practically already made, I am sitting on the couch with my feet up (not a bon-bon in sight, what the hell?) searching for WordPress themes for this site. It is in serious need of an overhaul. You may have noticed this for yourself, and if so, I say thank you for being polite enough to not say anything about it. Trust me, I know already.

Turns out there are 76 bajillion WP themes out there. Who knew?

If anyone has a favorite theme or an idea for this site, feel free to share. I’m a bit overwhelmed by the whole thing.

I think I’ll just go wash up this new lemon-yellow melmac tea set I picked up for the shop the other day. Time to get it photographed and listed. That, I think I can handle.

Hope the sun is shining where you are.

Knotty Clothes

August 2nd, 2008

Does anyone else ever have this experience? You go to fold a basket of freshly washed and dried laundry, only to find this:

And this:

That’s four different articles of clothing thoroughly intertwined in one of the most intricate knots I’ve ever had the pleasure of undoing. And I had already removed two other shirts from the knot before I took the picture.

What I want to know is, does this happen to everyone else? Is there some housewife laundry trick that I don’t know about that would save me from spending 30 minutes unwrapping my clean and dry clothes before I can even fold them?

Anyone have any ideas?

Please?

As a side note, my king-size sheets always come out of the dryer in a twisted ball, so if this is some laundry-related mistake that I’m making, at least I’m making it consistently.

It’s a…

That’s right, we learned the sex of the new baby (affectionately called “pickle”). Would you like to know? How about if I just tell you by not telling you. I’ll tell you by showing you a selection of goodies that I’d really like to buy for Pickle.

But
for
some
reason,
I
want
you
to
have
to
keep
reading
to
find
out.
Ok, enough of that. Enjoy.

We’ll start with this little number from Earth Groovz.

And these little cuties from Dog Gone Knitting.

Whales have always been known for their warming abilities, so Pickle will love these in the winter, from Luna.

And a little something to keep her noggin warm through the Maine winter, from Cite Fuzz.

While I’m at it, this one is for Dash.

Oh, I’ve been admiring the girl’s clothing sections ever since I found out I was pregnant with Dash. Not that I haven’t managed to find some good duds for him, but girls just have it so much easier. The selection is really amazing compared to the cargo pants and rugby shirts for boys.

So, little Pickle and I will be having far too much fun picking out clothes and accessories. And being one of very few girls in the family means she’s going to be spoiled with little dresses and skirts.

I say bring it on. Me and the Pickle? We’re ready.

Bestest Moments of Summer :: 3

July 29th, 2008

Ok, well I planned this post for sometime early last week but we were blessed (?) with rain rain rain all week long and it literally put a damper on plans, blog and otherwise. Yuck. My garden is excessively happy though, making for some unusually large zucchinis. Pictures to come.

But for now, I’ll let the weather dictate this next bestest moment, which we’ll call, “dealing with what mother nature offers up.”

In between the rain showers, Dash learned the joys of keeping cool using just a garden hose and an old wash tub.

And on the rainy days, we find things to do indoors. Like trying on daddy’s mandolin for the first time and making surprisingly pretty music with it.

Looks like we have a beautiful sunny day ahead of us. Who knows what summer moment will come out of this one?
